Absent Friends

Not xangaed in such a long time, trojan horses, corroded motherboards, all this geek vernacular
It's official, I am falling for Manchester. I doubted it at first but the feelings keep getting stronger. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship.
In other news, I went to see "Everything is Illuminated" with my mother at the metro. It is the best film I have seen for a long time, verging on months.
I bought a Divine Comedy cd from Oxfam for a pound and its not left my stereo.
I'm going to see Regina Spektor with Drapes on Thursday, boy am I excited about the audio treats and photo opportunities.
I was at the gym today working out to Maximo Park, really keeps you going that extra bit, and had a yearning for some indie club action. I can't remember the last time I hit a dance floor. Might have to take a trip to fifth ave to keep me young.

This week I have been mostly... joining new churches (well one anyway) and making new friends (one again ha! only joking)

I had a lovely collection of photos from Mondo in the post. I put them on my wall.

I had a delightful letter from BB that I have still only read half of eeek but I am dying to read the rest.

I was assessed by uni, I handed my practical work in and took 13 lessons.

I handed out 11 detentions.

I have drunk over 50 cups of tea I reckon.

I have made four birthday cards.

I have watched half an episode of Neighbours.

I am counting down the days til holiday with bated breath. I cannot wait to lie in past 630am and miss that annoying Chris Moyles each morning.

I have finally finished reading my book, The Business by Ian Banks, and it was a grower I'll give you that.

Veej is tired.

Don't Be Shallow

A think a whole week as passed. It has been stress-o-rama. But thankfully the end is in sight.

I rang up the car insurance company to get my car insurance changed to Manchester, and the woman exclaimed when I read out my post-code, she lives three doors down. It's a very small world.

Had a weekend of going out for drinks and catching up with people. Saw Jimbo on Friday and some of his Manch crew. Went to a lovely little bar last night which was very reminiscent of the little coffee shops in Sopot. They had an excellent sound track, moving from little indie numbers such as PJ Harvey and some Radiohead, to little smatterings of funk and old school as the dark drew in. Oh to be a proper student and spend hours in coffee shops rather than staff rooms grabbing instant coffee for its pure caffeine quality.

One of the teachers at school was preparing a lesson on the Pope the other day and I think I got a little too excited, we shared our Pope stories and hers included a time when JP landed in America and the crowds chanted "JP 2 we love you!" to which he replied "JP2 HE love you" what a little ledge. I might have some issues with the whole Catholic doctrine malarky but JP 2 is a true hero (and we've been to his house Mondo and BB!)

speak soon, Christmas is coming bring it on! Derbs in the snow will be lovely

This weekend is the yearly Ally P Birthday bash. Most years involve fancy dress and following on from 2003's Bling party, this years is "SuperHeros".

I have decided to go as that great British cartoon hero "Penny Crayon". For the ill-informed among you here's a little abstract on my personal hero (second only to Bernard and his amazing watch but that's another story)...

Artful Penny could indeed draw anything she wanted with her magic crayon and it would spring into life. A fantastically useful toy to have. Only her best friend Dennis knew her secret so the two had acres of fun winding up adults, nosey-parkers, bullies, bad guys, teachers and ne'er-do-wells with her creations, or solving problems for folk, or sketching their way out of tricky situations. Penny would scribble away, her arm becoming a blurr as she worked and  then - hey presto! - her line drawing would leap off the drawing surface as a fully-formed 3D object. To underscore the magical transformation we'd witness a brief burst of 'zap' lines preceeding a spiral of confetti-type colours...

right now its back to planning lessons and completing detention slips. If only I had that darn magic crayon for double year nine tomorrow

love Veejx
